My Client, Sarah and her husband have a beautiful home. We worked on her home some years back finding a layout to really work well for the way they wanted to enjoy their home. Now, though they are getting ready to sell and Sarah’ tastes have changed as well. After Sarah showed me some pictures of her “dream home” we talked about purchasing a few new items that she would be able to take with her and also freshen up her space for selling. Sarah, loves whites and off whites, some grays and some dark contrast. After going over some possible colors with her, she chose a warm Benjamin Moore neutral color called Shelburne Buff and painted most of the rooms. We had chosen a color for her kitchen called Honeymoon (the color of honey with the moon shining through it) a few years back. This color was a keeper as it worked well with her woodwork and kitchen cupboards. These two beautiful color spread some light around, add warmth and work well with her new love for whites and grays; The Shelburne Buff, a great warm neutral is a color she plans to take with her to her next home too.

Her kitchen needed a bit of updating so we chose a new floor, counter, sink and hardware to match. She already had purchased a stainless steel refrigerator, microwave and stove so only needed to update her dishwasher. Kitchens are very important when selling and that is where homeowners usually put most of their budget. Adding some modern touches is key and appealing to your target market which in this case would be a young family. The patio door was in need of some working drapery for privacy. This is also a great place to soften the edges of all the hard surfaces in a kitchen. We chose these for their modern approach as well as bringing the gray to this area of her kitchen. By adding a panel to the other side, we were able to bring balance to both sides of the bay window. The end result provided the drama that this area needed.

Next month we will feature more pictures of this home.
