BEFORE

Moving into a new home can create quite a puzzle for using pieces from your previous home. Most people do usually need a few new pieces of furniture. Sometimes they must, for the time being, use just what they have and possibly have a plan in place for a few new items down the road. It’s actually quite fun to begin with what a client already has especially if the pieces they kept are pieces that they already love and have chosen to move along with them.

Above is an area inside the front door of this home and the homeowner decided to use it for herself for a sitting area away from the television viewing family area. A place for her to enjoy a cup of coffee and read using her i-pad or visit with a friend. She also has a cabinet where she hides a printer and can take care of a bit of home business. This area also needed a place for her two children to store away a few things when they come in as the door to the right of this area is also their main entry.

The drapery was not the coloring that she preferred so it was removed. Since the windows came with custom wooden blinds and the window treatments were simply an a accessory, there was no problem removing them.

The office chest was placed across from the built ins on a shorter wall. Notice the two baskets on the lower left corner of the built ins. These are used for the children’s storage of items.

The “loveseat” rocker’s upholstery was out of date so we added a solid grey throw as well as a wool animal print in grey tones for some interest. The furry pillow lightens things up and adds a bit more texture. This will help her till another day when she can have this much loved furniture piece reupholstered.

The lovely side table was purchased at a flee market giving her a bit more space to enjoy this area as well as a spot for a matching table lamp.

Built In Beauty

Built In Beauty

Her desire was for this “built in” area to primarily showcase her photos. For the time being we layed a couple of frames down which still allows the frames and photos to be enjoyed.

These are faux roses that easily can be replaced with live flowers for special occasions.

Textured Greenery

Textured Greenery

Here, some beautiful greenery clipped from a few bushes in her yard. I love the life and texture that real plants add to a room.
