Before 2nd Focal

Before 2nd Focal

In this prior positioning before the client moved in, the television was actually the primary focal of the room making the fireplace secondary. By positioning the television above a mantle or near to incorporate it; the television becomes part of the fireplace focal wall.

Since in this room we placed the television above the fireplace, it became part of the main focal wall.

Here is the piece that I mentioned in a previous blog (newsletter too) . Her husband’s dresser from his childhood that I had wanted to use in the room to add warmth.

It was moved to the secondary focal wall to become the foundation for this area.

This client enjoyed the idea of adding some rustic pieces to the room and at first we considered this shelf below.

Here was a possible layout using the shelf

sw.shelf.layoutSee how I used tape to help the client visualize a possible layout using pictures around the shelf and a lantern to be added to both sides.

In the end we decided on something much simpler using this picture

sw.liv.picIt still had a rustic quality since it was unframed and had a ribbon of nail head trimmed burlap around the edge.

Here is the final result along with a beautiful basket I found for her to use for extra blanket throws for the room.

sarah & mine 083We managed to use her other candle-stick here and added a ribbon of burlap around the edge of her lamp as well.
